Safehacker was made for the Global Game Jam 2014 and was my first real turn-based online game. While I’ve dabbled with similar elements before, this is the first time it has made it to a satisfactory playable state. The downside, of course, is that you need 2 players on 2 computers to play it.
The game itself is rather simple: You are to hack open the safe before your opponent opens yours. The safe is protected with a password and you work your way towards this password by entering words in a fashion similar to Mastermind. You can’t just enter any combination of letters, as the game is challenging the vocabulary level of the players by only allowing words listed in the Merriam-Webster Dictionary.
